FAQ

Everything most players ask before booking. Anything else — call (830) 554-9310 or email info@breakthroughpickleball.com.

Am I good enough for this camp?

If you play regularly, can sustain a rally, and keep score, you're ready. Breakthrough camps are built for 2.5–3.5 recreational players — the folks who've been stuck at the same level and want real coaching. Six players per coach means the coaching is individual either way, and if the group spans a wide range we'll group players by level for some of the drills. You don't need a DUPR rating, tournament experience, or a partner. If you're brand new to the sport (fewer than a couple months of play), reach out first and we'll point you to the right starting point.

What should I bring?

Just the basics:

  • Your paddle
  • Court shoes (all camps are on indoor courts)
  • A water bottle
  • A light snack if you want one — it's a full 9 AM to 1 PM morning

We provide all balls and every training aid the curriculum uses.

What exactly happens in the four hours?

Camp runs 9 AM to 1 PM with the Breakthrough Method curriculum. Most camps are twelve players with two coaches — and if a camp you attend runs larger or smaller, we guarantee a 6-to-1 player-to-coach ratio. That means individual correction all morning, not a group lecture. You'll drill, play live points with coaching in real time, and leave with a specific plan for what to work on next.

What makes Breakthrough different from other camps?

Most camps put 20 or 30 players on the court with a rotating cast of assistants and a one-size-fits-all lesson plan. Most Breakthrough camps are twelve players with two coaches — and if a camp runs larger or smaller, we guarantee a 6-to-1 player-to-coach ratio. We run the Breakthrough Method, a curriculum built specifically for 2.5–3.5 players who've stopped improving, so you get individual correction on your actual swing all morning, not a group lecture. You leave with a 60-day drill and practice plan, and within a week of camp you'll get an email with 1–2 drills and suggestions personalized for you.

What will I actually get out of the camp?

You'll leave with one or two specific fixes that make an immediate, noticeable difference — not a pile of vague advice — plus a clear plan for what to work on next and drills to lock it in. Four hours of individual correction from your coaches, live-point play with coaching in real time, and a deeper understanding of why points are won and lost at the 2.5–3.5 level.

What ages is this camp designed for?

Most of our campers are 50 and up, and the curriculum, pacing, and coaching style are built with that in mind. That said, the camp is designed for players 50 and over, though what matters most is your level (2.5–3.5). If you're younger and you play at this level, you're welcome to sign up.

What's the cancellation and refund policy?

Plans change — we get it. Here's how cancellations work, based on when you let us know before your camp date:

15 or more days out
Your choice: a full refund, or a full credit toward any future Breakthrough camp — no expiration.

7–14 days out
Your choice: a 75% refund, or a 100% credit toward any future Breakthrough camp.

6 days or less
Seats are non-refundable at this point, because we can rarely re-fill them. You can take a 50% credit toward any future camp, or send another player of a similar skill level in your place at no charge — just tell us their name and email at least 24 hours before camp. No-shows aren’t refunded or credited.

To cancel, email info@breakthroughpickleball.com. Refunds go back to your original card, typically within 5–10 business days. Full details in our Refund Policy.

What if Breakthrough has to cancel or reschedule?

If we ever have to cancel or move a camp, you choose: a 100% refund, or a guaranteed seat at the rescheduled date. Your call, no questions asked.

The camp I want is full. Now what?

Join the waitlist from that camp's page — it's free and doesn't commit you to anything. We cap every camp at twelve and never oversell, so when a seat opens we go straight down the waitlist in order. You'll also hear first when we add a second date in your city.

Indoor or outdoor? What about weather?

Every Breakthrough camp is held at a quality indoor club — climate-controlled, quality courts, consistent lighting. Weather never cancels a camp.

Do I need to bring a partner?

No — most players come solo. The curriculum rotates partners and groups all morning, so you'll play with everyone. Coming with a friend or spouse? Great, just book two seats before they're gone.
